While fans are eagerly awaiting an official Guardians of the Galaxy trailer release date, the cast and crew are busy giving out plot previews. The latest one comes from Zoe Saldana, who plays Avengers villain Thanos' (adopted) daughter.
The film stars Avatar's Zoe Saldana as Thanos' daughter, Gamora.Saldana. She recently spoke with MTV News about what makes GOTG different from other superhero films:
"I love, sometimes, the consistency of what the classics have left behind, but I need innovation. You can only have so much of 'I'll save you. After a while, it's like, 'Oh god. Does he go to the bathroom? Is he hungry? Does he cry? Does he feel?' Not only do we cover that, but we're making heroes out of thieves, and they're Robin Hoods. These characters are absolutely amazing, and they have a full-blown redemption."
Marvel's president of production, Kevin Feige, recently spoke with Collider about the rag-tag group of superheroes:
“It’s not a secret. Nobody knows it. It was not a successful live action TV show in the ‘70s. It didn’t have a successful cartoon line. It isn’t a part of video games. It is the least known, which is exactly why we’re doing it. Do you know what I’m feeling here? I’m feeling excitement for Batman vs. Superman. I’m excited for that. It’s awesome. But it’s another movie with combined comic book characters. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Thor. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Captain America, but there’s a sense that I feel here, which is, ‘we love this. They’re revealing the Winter Soldier! Oh my God, look what Loki’s doing!’ But there’s a sense of, ‘what’s new?’ Some people--not enough people--liked Pacific Rim so much. That was the newest thing in the world.”
Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1, 2014 .
