‘Captain America 2’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ Tie-in Crossover Episode Confirmed, ‘Agent Carter’ Update [SPOILERS]

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D recently aired a tie-in crossover episode with Thor 2, and now it has been confirmed that Captain America 2 will get the same treatment. Meanwhile, Marvel's Kevin Feige is opening up about Agent Carter. SPOILERS BELOW!

S.H.I.E.L.D writer Jed Whedon recently spoke with TV Guide about a Captain America tie-in

"Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson] is in that one, and S.H.I.E.L.D. makes an appearance, so we will definitely try to tee-up some stuff and probably play a little bit of the fallout from that film. We're hoping to do some cool stuff."

One of the biggest elements of the S.H.I.E.L.D show is the mystery of Agent Coulson's resurrection. Whedon insists that Coulson is not a Life Model Decoy:

"We know that there's going to be a lot of theories and there's no chance that whatever we reveal won't, at some point, be written on the internet. We're just trying to come up with ways to make it surprising or make it not how they expected it to unravel. We know what it is, but we know that no one else does yet."

Speaking of agents...Marvel's president of production Kevin Feige spoke with Collider about the Agent Carter short and how it relates to S.H.I.E.L.D:

"The shorts are always just us wanting to do a little extra, and a little something fun. We have a team in place. Louis D'Esposito has an incredible directorial eye. So, we just wanna do it. And our relationships with our cast that Lou can call Hayley and she gets on a plane and comes over and does it. They always just start as fun. Then, when you look at them, the fun is, expanding the universe. That’s the fun about it. We take a character we haven’t seen since Cap 1. And I would say, in certain ways, the Coulson shorts, which look very quaint now compared to Agent Carter, but we knew we were killing him. The whole purpose of that was, see more of him before we killed him. Make him more of a fan favorite. And with Hayley, her character, her presence and story affects Cap in the next Cap movie. So that made sense, to have this be a bridge between the two movies to see more of it. And, we just wanted to see a kick a** adventure with Hayley. But, once they’re done, we see that we’ve expanded the universe and people have responded to it, is there anything else we can do with them? And it was a broad conversation like that after Item 47...In some ways, it helped to push Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. forward. What Agent Carter does, who knows? It’s all about just finishing it right now, which is now done, and then we’ll figure out what happens next."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
