Tom Cruise New Scientology Center Details: John Travolta Attends Following Gay Rumors and Magazine Trial, Leah Remini Not Invited [UPDATE]

A new scientology center recently opened and both Tom Cruise and John Travolta were in attendance. Of course, both men are becoming more known for their litigation than for their religion. In the past, John Travolta was in a high-profile lawsuit where he denied gay rumors, and Tom Cruise is currently in a lawsuit with a major U.S. magazine. While Leah Remini was definitely not in attendance, she, too, got swept up in litigation over the highly secretive religion.

David Miscavige, leader of the worldwide religion, was also in attendance at the scientologist-only event. His speech, while only 8 minutes long, seemed to inspire the onlooking crowd and ended with a burst of confetti, according to the Tampa Bay Times, who also reported:

“Miscavige led the first group through the front doors of the building, where Scientology's much-anticipated ‘Super Power’ program will be presented for the first time. Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard developed it in the 1970s, but the church did not unveil it until a proper venue could be built. Hubbard said Super Power would allow Scientologists to develop special abilities and ‘create a new world.’”

Of course, Tom Cruise isn’t just making news for attending Scientology's newest opening. He’s also generating quite a bit of buzz for suing In Touch.

Specifically, he is going after the publication for an article that claimed he abandoned his daughter for Scientology. TMZ broke the news after getting their paws on official court documents. According to the gossip site, Cruise admitted that Scientology factored into Katie Holmes decision to leave him:

“In the deposition...Cruise squirmed in his chair as the lawyer for the magazine repeatedly asked if Katie fled their marriage because of the Church. Cruise hemmed and hawed, suggesting it wasn't true, and then the lawyer asked whether Katie Holmes left [Cruise] in part to protect Suri from Scientology. Cruise answered: "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."
