Fox is now home to two of TV’s most intriguing new sci-fi series. The network has inherited some of Fringe’s best with its freshmen dramas Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human. Will the two shows be able to team up to take on NBC’s hit series, The Blacklist?
The futuristic, high-tech drama Almost Human is the latest addition to Fox’s Monday night lineup. Fringe veteran J.H. Wyman recently spoke with MTV News about his new shot at the sci-fi genre:
"I'm just thrilled we got a chance to put another science fiction show on the air. The only reason we got five years [for Fringe] is number one the fans, and number two the media. If the fans hadn't made it happen, we wouldn't have gotten a chance to do this show. I'm just really happy that people say that scifi shows can be good, and maybe can get a larger audience with this one."
Fox’s other Monday night sci-fi drama, Sleepy Hollow, is proving that the genre can exist on the network. Sleepy Hollow averages a 2.9 rating in the 18-to-49 demo for Monday night viewings. However, if you tack on the rest of the week's DVR and streaming views, it jumps to an impressive 4.9 rating, putting it ahead of most other dramas.
Sleep Hollow also has a few Fringe connections of its own. Both show’s were co-created by Alex Kurtzman. Fringe star, John Noble, also recently joined the cast of Sleepy Hollow.
When asked if there would ever be an Almost Human/Sleepy Hollow crossover, Wyman responded:
"That would be awesome! You would have to do a time jump.”
Sleepy Hollow stars Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, Katia Winter and Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane. The show airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Fox. You can catch up with the headless horsemen on Hulu Plus. Almost Human airs Monday’s at 8.pm on the same network.
