Jon Jones: UFC Fighter Apologizes After Launching Verbal Assault on Police Officer

A shocking new video has emerged showing former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in a heated argument with a police officer. The mixed martial artist was pulled over for allegedly drag racing and Jones lost his temper and called the officer some pretty harsh names. He eventually apologized for his poor behavior.

TMZ Sports obtained footage of the exchange, which has the 28-year-old fighter accusing the officer of harassing him. Jones was obviously irate and blasted the officer by calling him a "an absolute f***ing liar" and a "pig."

This all went down after the officer accused him of revving his engine at a red light and then taking off at a high speed in a drag race with a Cadillac.

“I did not drag race a Cadillac,” Jones explained, though the officer continued to question his alleged bad behavior. It is not until the very end of the video that he swears at the officer.

Albuquerque police said Jones had also been speeding at the time but the fighter said his actions had been misinterpreted, “I definitely wasn’t drag racing,” he said. “I got emotional and said some things that I probably shouldn’t have said to a police officer.”

Although there is no way to prove or disprove that Jones was drag racing, he eventually released a statement and apologized for his behavior but he still strongly denied that he was doing what he was accused of.

"I was not drag racing nor was I speeding. I did not get a speeding ticket. I was driving within the speed limit of the 35 mph zone," he noted. "I feel that police used a technicality to ticket me for drag racing, for simply revving my engine and acknowledging some of my local fans. I regrettably said words to the police officer out of frustration, for which I apologize for, but I do feel this was excessive."
