"End of the Rainbow," a musical drama about Judy Garland, is to close on Broadway on August.
Producers said Tuesday the show which starred Olivier Award-winner Tracie Bennett will close August 19, having played a total of 176 performances since it began on March 19 at the Belasco Theatre in midtown-Manhattan.
Set in December 1968, the show focuses on the Wizard Of Oz star in the months leading up to her death in 1969. Bennett received a Drama Desk Award and was nominated for Tony Award in the role.
The critically praised musical drama features some of Garland's most memorable songs such as "The Man That Got Away", "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
The production is planning a national tour starting March 12 in Los Angeles, and a film adaption, also starring Bennett, is currently in progress.
