Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland recently made headlines for defending her dad, after Alec went on yet another homophobic rant, where he used anti-gay language. This latest outburst caused the MSNBC host to be suspended.
"My dad is far from a homophobe or racist...Sometimes we let our tempers get the best of us. Tempers are like wildfires. Something or someone can easily fuel the fire."
Ireland was clearly referencing Baldwin’s most recent use of anti-gay slurs. As usual, they were hurled at a member of the gossip community.
According to reports (and also a video), Baldwin charged a photographer. While chasing after the photog, he called him a “c--ksucking f----t.” Since the altercation, Baldwin issued an apology:
"I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have--and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand Up Late will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week."
Of course, this isn’t the first time that he’s used anti-gay language. Earlier in the year, he called a gossip columnist a “toxic little queen,” after the writer disclosed his wife’s tweeting habits. Specifically, he told readers about the tweets she sent while attending James Gandolfini’s funeral:
"The pregnant yoga instructor's social media feed was full of upbeat posts while The Sopranos star's friends, family and co-stars were gripped with grief at a New York Catholic church. Messages included a request for ideas about wedding anniversary presents and promotional notes about her upcoming appearance on The Rachael Ray Show."
