Beliebers are in a world of heartbreak over the news that the "Sorry" hitmaker has just cancelled all future meet and greets for the remainder of his Purpose Tour. The Biebs shocked everyone with the upsetting news on March 22, but now it has been revealed that his decision was the result of several scary run-ins.
According to a TMZ source, a fan that was on Bieber’s security team’s “watch list” got way too close for comfort on March 21. While no harm was done, this was the last straw for the pop star.
The 22-year-old "What Do You Mean" singer then abruptly pulled the plug on all of his fan meet and greets, and he’s only been on the road since March 10.
Bieber revealed in a letter on Instagram that his meet and greets have left him feeling “mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.” By not meeting fans before the show, he can be in a better mood when preparing to perform.
In some cases, TMZ reports that the "Love Yourself" chart topper got his hair pulled, his clothing torn off and even got the flu once from a fan. They report that Bieber never complained, but security insisted that he change things. So from now on, the singer will only greet groups on a stage with no touching or one-on-one interaction.
So far, there’s no announcement on how fans can go about getting refunds for their meet and greets, for which tickets cost between $900 and $2,000. Bieber has a very long U.S. tour ahead of him, not wrapping things up until July 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
