It’s Wednesday night, and that means that there is a new episode of 'Arrow.' Tonight’s episode features the return of Count Vertigo to Starling City. A few spoilers for the rest of the season have also been revealed, including a few guest stars. The Flash and Nightwing are expected to join the newly masked Stephen Amell in his war on crime.
Tonight’s new episode features the return of a classic Green Arrow villain. Actor Seth Gabel recently spoke with MTV News about reprising his role as the Count Vertigo:
"I listen to aggressive dubstep music to get into character...[Producers] Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim first pitched the character to me as being very much like The Joker. So that was obviously the starting point; but I really tried to find a way where it wasn't just a rip-off and make it my own. For me it was just a matter of having a very playful voice, one that was hoarse and damaged, and affected by his depravity and his recklessness."
When we last saw Vertigo, he overdosed on a taste of his own medicine. Gabel also spilled the beans about his recovery:
"He has a fast metabolism! The vertigo has worked its way out of his system. He finds his way back to reality, and when he does he's in a maximum-security prison. And that's where we find him in this episode. Once he does get out of that jail, he's on a mission to get revenge and get even with Arrow, and also continue his plan to use vertigo to craft his empire in his image."
With an ever growing number of villains, The Green Arrow is going to need a few new ways to protect himself. That’s why we are going to see Oliver dawn the character's iconic mask. Producer Andrew Kreisberg recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Arrow’s new accessory:
“He doesn’t just put on a mask. It’s actually a big plot point in an episode, and there really is a story behind, not only the need for the mask but also who provides him with it. It’s going to be a little bit of a surprise, and once they see how the mask comes into creation, I think people will be really excited about it.”
That is not the only addition to the series that we can expect this season. The Flash is scheduled to appear in episode eight. There has also been new reports that Batman’s sidekick Nightwing will be making his way to Starling City. TVD’s Steven McQueen recently tweeted a picture of himself working out in a Nightwing shirt, along with the message:
“Nightwing training @ARROWwriters @GBerlanti @KyleDHiggins @RapaportCasting.”
