Production for Batman Vs Superman has already started, and we now have a new update about when The Dark Knight and Man of Steel will begin filming. Meanwhile, Christian Bale is offering Ben Affleck some sage advice about his Batsuit.
Filming for Batman Vs Superman was kicked off last month with a football game between Gotham and Metropolis, however, none of the movie’s main stars were on hand. Producer Charles Roven recently spoke with Variety about when principal photography would begin:
"We started soft prep in June and we'll be shooting eight months later. We felt that we accomplished our goals with Man Of Steel. Our intention was to being Superman into the 21st century with a contemporary character and a different kind of superhero than what's out there right now".
Roven also added a little insight into why Ben Affleck was cast:
"We wanted a guy who had a certain age and a certain gravitas to what he had done in terms of his recent work. If you take a look at The Town and Argo, he plays a couple of serious guys in those movies. He’s a big man. He’s also a mature man. As you see him and Henry [Cavill] together, one definitely has much more experience just by looking at him. That’s what we wanted, particularly juxtaposed against our Superman."
Christian Bale recently told Access Hollywood that he gave Ben Affleck a bit of advice about playing Batman:
"The only thing I said to him is: Look, make sure he can take a piss without anyone having to help him because it's a little bit humiliating--which I went through--when you got to have someone kind of help you out of the costume to be able to do that. So that was my main piece of advice for him."
Kevin Smith has actually seen Affleck in his new suit, telling the world on his webcast:
"I don't want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this...I instantly bear hugged [Snyder]. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this Matrix-y black armor thing...There wasn't a single nipple on this f**king suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like 'Holy S--t!' We haven't been down this path before. Even the Hardest core 'f--k this movie' person will be like 'alright, I'm ready!'"
