X-Men: Days of Future Past may have just released its first trailer, but the film is far from finished. While the special FX team is busy building Sentinels, reports are surfacing that actors are returning to the set for reshoots. The movie features actors from both the original series and the newer prequel, playing the same parts. However, it’s the newcomer Quiksilver that will have fans seeing double. The character will also appear in the upcoming Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
Last month, the first trailer for the new X-Men film, Days of Future Past, was released. The trailer focuses on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who is tasked to go back in time, in order to save all of mutantkind.
This is Hugh Jackman's seventh appearance as Wolverine. The actor spoke with the Daily News earlier in the year about his run as Wolverine:
"I love this character, and I never take for granted the opportunity I have to play what I think is one of the cooler, more interesting, multilayered comic book characters, particularly with this one I have wanted to do the story. At some point my body will give up, but right now I'm enjoying it more than ever."
Jackman isn’t the only person returning for the new film. Bryan Singer is coming back to clean up the mess left in his absence. Singer recently spoke with Empire about the benefits and dangers of trying to make a time travel movie:
"It's about figuring your rules and sticking to them. The principle I looked at is this theory that until an object is observed, it hasn't really happened yet. The time-traveller whose consciousness travels through time I call The Observer, and until The Observer returns to where he travelled from, the result hasn't occurred yet. So he can muck about in the past and it isn't until he snaps back that the new future is set. As a result, we're able to have parallel action, and there's an underlying tension because there's always that threat Wolverine's consciousness could return and leave the world in an even darker place."
Singer recently tweeted about the film, teasing the appearance of the Sentinels:
"I love the the characters. There's always a new place to go in the #XMen universe. #TimeTravel #Sentinels"
However, the special FX team is still currently working on the film's digital effects. Now it has also been reported that production has started back up for reshoots.
The new flick will also tie in with the Avengers sequel...well sort of. The two films will feature the same character, Quicksilver. The silver-haired speedster will be played by Evan Peters in the X-Men movie and by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers 2.
