Tonight’s Fox’s live musical event The Passion is finally here. The re-telling of the story of Jesus Christ will feature modern music on top of a story narrated by Tyler Perry. Check out the report below for a look at the event before tonight.
The official TV Guide plot synopsis for tonight’s special live musical event, The Passion: Live, reads:
“Tyler Perry narrates a musical portrait of the last days of Jesus Christ, from the Last Supper to the Resurrection, which plays out on the streets of New Orleans through Bible passages and contemporary pop songs.”
The Passion will be narrated by Tyler Perry and stars Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ, Chris Daughtry as Judas Iscariot, Prince Royce as Peter, Trisha Yearwood as Mother Mary and Seal as Pontius Pilate.
The Passion will not be 100 percent live because of the large scale nature of the production, but even the pre taped elements will have live music on top of it as Passion exec producer Mark Bracco explained to Variety:
“We’ll be cutting back to the live band, the live choir, the crowd in the park. It will all play as one big live experience, even though there are a few scenes that we have shot ahead of time, just because there was no possibility of getting from location to location within a commercial break.”
Be sure to tune into the all new live musical special The Passion, Live tonight from New Orleans at 8:00 p.m. eastern on Fox.
