It’s no secret that Marvel’s Avengers spin-off TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ties into the larger MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). This week's new episode, “The Well,” will crossover with the latest big screen blockbuster, Thor 2: The Dark world. Check out our plot preview below, but be warned the following contains spoilers for Thor 2.
The premise of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is wrapped tightly around the event of the greater MCU. This week's new episode will tie directly in with the plot of Thor 2: The Dark World as the show’s official synopsis reveals:
"The Well’’--In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel's Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces--one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team, on Tuesday, November 19 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network."
In Thor 2, the Nine Realms aligned causing the the barriers between the worlds to be weakend. Now it appears some Asgardian artifacts have found their way to earth. A new preview trailer shows Agent Ward getting his hands on one of the misplaced magical artifacts. The weapon taps into Ward’s inner rage, putting him at odds with the rest of the team.
This isn’t the first time that the show and the MCU have crossed paths. Samuel L. Jackson reprised his role as S.H.I.E.L.D Director Nick Fury in the series second episode. Last week’s episode, “The Hub,” featured Agent Sitwell, a comic character who previously appeared in the original Thor film. Sitwell will also be a part of upcoming film, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.
