Sony Masterworks will be producing a live recording of Kinky Boots from the London's Adelphi Theatre. Kinky Boots originated in Chicago in 2012 and landed on on Broadway in 2013 winning six Tony Awards. The orginal cast started Stark Sands as Charlie Price and Billy Porter as Lola/ Simon. Famed rocker Cyndi Lauper wrote the music for the show with actor/writer Harvey Fierstein (Hairspray) provided the book. The current West End production stars Killian Donnelly as Charlie and Matt Henry as Lola.
According to WestEndWilma the rest of the cast includes Amy Lennox (Lauren), Jamie Baughan (Don), Amy Ross (Nicola) and Michael Hobbs (George).
The Ensemble also includes:
Gemma Atkins, Paul Ayres, Jeremy Batt, Arun Blair-Mangat, Marcus Collins, Emma Crossley, Jordan Fox, Callum Francis, Robert Grose, Gillian Hardie, Chloe Hart, Sophie Isaacs, Luke Jackson, Robert Jones, Adam Lake, Catherine Millsom, Sean Needham, Tim Prottey-Jones, Verity Quade, Javier Santos, Dominic Tribuzio, Alan Vicary, Michael Vinsen and Bleu Woodward.
Kinky Boots was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won a six, including Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, Best Original Score Cyndi Lauper, and Best Musical. Billy Porter even beat out co-star Stark Sands for the Best Actor in a Musical Tony.
Kinky Boots also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2014.
The Sony Masterworks live recording will be available for pre-order on March 11 will be released on April 1.
