'TVD’s' Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Dating: Hookup After Elena and Damon Breakup, Delena Wins Best Couple as Stefan Moves On

Things are heating up in Mystic Falls, especially for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. Their TVD characters, Elena and Damon, have just been crowned the Best TV Couple of All Time, by E! Online. Rumors are also surfacing that the Delena actors are getting back together, after their recent real-world breakup. Meanwhile, Paul Wesley and his character, Stefan, are planning on moving on, despite rumors that he too was involved with Dobrev.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may have broken up over the summer, but that hasn’t kept the two apart. Rumor has it that the couple remained friends with benefits, during Dobrev’s brief relationship with Derek Hough. Now that Dobrev is once again single, there has been reports that Dobrev and Somerhalder are back together.

Back in 2012, Dobrev told Seventeen about her irresistible attraction to Somerhalder:

"I didn't want to be dating one of my costars-my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long-which I did for a really, really long time."

The on-again, off-again couple recently won E! Online's Best TV Couple of All Time Tournament. The publication spoke with Dobrev about the win:

"I mean it's crazy! The Delena fans are so passionate and so enthusiastic and such rabid lovers of Damon and Elena's chemistry and their relationship that obviously we're incredibly flattered and excited about it. It is really awesome!"

Somerhalder teased that fans shouldn’t get too attached to the on screen couple:

"Relationships are hard in real life, and they're exceptionally hard in Mystic Falls because when you have happiness in Mystic Falls, you have no drama. And if you have no drama, you have no TV show."

This isn’t the first time that Somerhalder has predicted a Delena breakup. Last month, Somerhalder was a guest on Live With Kelly & Michael, where he told the hosts:

"You can't be too happy in Mystic Falls. He got the girl, finally. It's cute, man. You've got this guy who's a maniacal killer, with the same look on his face whether he's saving a kitten from a tree or ripping your face off, and he's in love. It's cute....And it's not going to last, probably."

Some fans are still hoping that Paul Wesley’s Stefan will be the final nail in Delena’s coffin. However, the actor, himself, doesn’t seem to think so. Wesley recently spoke with Zap2it about his onscreen relationship with Nina:

"I think their love has faded. It's dissipated. It's kind of like when you go to a fortune teller and they tell you, 'You're going to end up with this person.' And you're like, 'Really?' And you can't help but in the back of your mind think that the fortune teller might be correct. It's one of those things, even though you don't really see yourself with that person. Right now, I think Stefan's taking some time to himself. He's 160 years old, so maybe he's kind of over relationships...That triangle's kind of, to be honest, a bit on the back burner right now.I think that that love triangle is not really necessarily a big forefront of what this show has become. It was at one point the only thing really happening."
