Marvel's 'Captain America 2,' 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and 'Thor' Movie Tie-In Character Revealed [SPOILERS]

Move over Agent Coulson, there is a new S.H.I.E.L.D. agent making the rounds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his name is Jasper Sitwell. The character, played by Maximiliano Hernández, is helping tie together several of the MCU's various franchises. Originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the comics, Sitwell had a small role in 2011's Thor. The character later appeared in two Marvel short films, The Consultant and Item 47. The character is also scheduled to appear in the S.H.I.E.L.D-centered Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Most recently, Sitwell revealed himself on ABC's Avengers spin-off, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Jasper Sitwell has a long history in the comics, ranging back to 1966. Sitwell has also been featured in the MCU since 2011, although, those appearances have went mostly unnoticed by casual viewers. That is until now.

The character received some major screen time in the most recent episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It is also rumored that he will play a much larger role in the upcoming 2014 film, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Diamond Select toys recently released a list of Cap 2 movie figures to MTV News that includes the agent's name. Seeing as how the character was recently introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, it's highly likely that his role in Captain America 2 will spill over into the show.

However, Sitwell isn't the only tie-in that the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series has planned. Next week's episode will feature the aftermath from the events of Thor: The Dark World. The official plot synopses reads:

"The Well"--In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel'sThor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces--one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team, on Tuesday, November 19 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network."
