Clemson Band and Jazz Members to Perform in London During Olympics

Sixty Clemson University musicians are visiting London to perform during the 2012 Olympic Games.

Clemson's Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble arrived Sunday and will perform at various Olympic venues around the city through August 4 to showcase their talents and American music to people from all over the world.

"This is a unique opportunity for our band students not only to travel abroad and learn about new cultures, but to bring the Clemson spirit to people from all over the globe," said Mark Spede, Clemson's director of bands.

Millions of visitors to London Olympics will not only watch the sports events but live entertainment events at street festivals near Olympic venues around the city. And the Clemson students are going to be part of that entertainment for a week.

Clemson University is American public university located in Clemson, South Carolina. During their time in London, the students will combine their performances with sightseeing and educational trips. They will also attend some of the Olympic events.
