Mark Wahlberg, who is known to make a few idiotic comments himself, recently bashed Tom Cruise, the world’s most famous Scientologist. After details from a lawsuit were leaked, numerous outlets claimed that Tom Cruise compared making movies to serving in the military. Mark Wahlberg doesn’t care for that kind of rhetoric and we’ve got a transcript of his response.
Don’t mess with Mark Wahlberg. He may be born again, but that won’t stop him from yelling out the f-word.
The award-winning actor recently appeared at the AFI Fest to plug his upcoming film, Lone Survivor. When asked about what it was like to train so rigorously for a role, Wahlberg responded:
"For actors to sit there and talk about ‘Oh, I went to SEAL training'? I don't give a f**k what you did. You don't do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as being in the military? How f--king dare you, while you sit in a makeup chair for two hours...I don't give a sh-t if you get your ass busted. You get to go home at the end of the day. You get to go to your hotel room. You get to order your f**king chicken. Whatever the f**k it is. People talk about what do we do to bond the way that those guys bonded. We just knew what they did. It didn't matter.”
Mark was clearly referencing statements made by Tom Cruise, which his attorney claims was taken out of context. In a statement to E! News, Tom’s attorney stated:
"The assertions that Tom Cruise likened making a movie to being at war in Afghanistan is a gross distortion of the record. What Tom said, laughingly, was that sometimes 'that's what it feels like.' As the video shows, he and the lawyer were laughing at his answer, and, when asked in the next question if the situations were comparable, Tom said 'Oh, come on,' meaning of course not.”
Tom’s most recent lawsuit targets U.S. tabloid In Touch. The gossip rag is under fire for their cover which featured a photo of Suri, Tom’s daughter, alongside text that reads, “Abandoned by Daddy: Has He Chosen Scientology Over Suri for Good?”
Needless to say, Cruise found the comments categorically untrue and offensive. However, during questioning from an attorney, Tom did admit that Katie was concerned about Suri joining her father’s religion.
News first broke by TMZ. The gossip site allegedly got their hands on official court documents and video, which revealed:
“In the deposition...Cruise squirmed in his chair as the lawyer for the magazine repeatedly asked if Katie fled their marriage because of the Church. Cruise hemmed and hawed, suggesting it wasn't true, and then the lawyer asked whether ‘Katie Holmes left you in part to protect Suri from Scientology.’ Cruise answered: ‘Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.’”
