Filming is underway for Man of Steel 2, and director Zack Snyder has confirmed that Lex Luthor will be in Batman Vs Superman. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman and Robin casting rumors continue to spread.
While promoting Man of Steel's Blu-ray release over the weekend, director Zack Snyder and superfan Kevin Smith let a spoiler slip. Snyder accidentally confirmed that Lex Luthor will be in the new film:
"At its core, Superman is an alien. He comes from an alien world...Lex loves to call him an alien."
Kevin Smith then interrupted the director to quip:
"That's a spoiler, folks."
After Snyder got back on track, he added the first film's ending will greatly affect the sequel, adding:
"There's a sadness at the end of the movie. That's a thing that weighs on Superman."
Smith recently revealed on his podcast, Hollywood Babble-On, that he has seen Affleck dawn the new and improved Bat-suit:
"I don't want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this...I instantly bear hugged [Snyder]. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this Matrix-y black armor thing...There wasn't a single nipple on this f-----g suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like 'Holy S--t!' We haven't been down this path before. Even the Hardest core 'f--k this movie' person will be like 'alright, I'm ready!'"
Meanwhile, casting rumors have been running wild about both Wonder Woman and Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing). It has been reported that Thor's Jamie Alexander was in the running for the role of Wonder Woman. Now three more names have been added to the short list, including: Olga Kurylenko, Fast and Furious's Gal Gadot and French actress Elodie Yung. However, the casting sides have been reported to be for Batman's love interest, which doesn't necessarily rule out WW.
Last week Latino Review broke the news that Batman's sidekick was being considered for the film, reporting:
"According to a very trusted source, the rumor is that Dick Grayson (aka Nightwing) is going to be in the movie. The reason I say rumor is that for the last couple of weeks I've been trying to get the scoop confirmed, but because of the ultra-secrecy surrounding the project, it's been almost impossible...I checked in with my agency sources and there is a breakdown out there, where the production is looking for a young, John Hawkes type. I'm not saying they're casting him in the movie. But they're looking for a younger version of him and there have been some names that have auditioned for this 'young John Hawkes' role, which I'm told is Dick Grayson."
