Veteran theater star, Sandy Duncan, best known for her iconic role as Peter Pan, has left her role in the Peter Pen prequel Finding Neverland and is not expected to return. Sources say that the actress was having problems with her role as Madame Du Maurier. There were only five performances of the musical in Duncan's well publicized return to Broadway. Officially this is being cited as a temporary departure due to "family reasons." Insiders say that the departure is permanent and that the role will be played by a temporary replacement for now till someone can be hired.
According to TheNYDailyNews, who quotes a source close to the production, had this to say about Duncans departure "The company adored Sandy and supported her but she struggled with her lines and her blocking. It was frustrating for everyone . She quit." It can be very hard when you are the replacement actor in a established Broadway production. It got a lot of attention when Duncan was hired to replace Carolee Carmelo in the role of Madame Du Maurier who is the grand mother of the two boys in J.M Barrie's famous original book Peter Pan.
