Lamar Odom is definitely a walking miracle! After his infamous overdose at a Nevada Love Ranch back in October for taking alcohol, pills and cocaine, Khloe Kardashian's husband is one lucky human being to still be alive today. This tragic incident inspired Odom to help his fellow troubled athletes and become a substance abuse counselor in the NBA.
After surviving an almost fatal overdose, Lamar plans to change his ways and be a better version of himself. The 36-year-old former professional basketball player wants to give back for all the love and support was given to him during his darkest time.
“So many people have shown him so much love over the past months when he was at his worse and he wants to give back,” a source told HollywoodLife exclusively. “That’s why he’s considering talking to the NBA to become a substance abuse counselor.”
The source added that Odom knows the good and bad side of being a superstar athlete. He understands the pressure of being the best and having to deal with fame at the same time.
"Lam also knows the off-the-court lifestyle can be very tempting and dangerous even," the source continued. "He wants to help some of the young cats in the league not to get caught up in all the glam and party life that’s thrown their way. He wants to do good. He’s been given another life to live.”
Odom made his first public appearance at Kanye West's Yeezy Season 3 fashion show on Feb. 11. The star looked fit and healthy and very much like his old self.
