Thor 2: The Dark World has just been released, and Captain America 2 and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy are next at bat. The upcoming Guardians film will feature the Avengers villain Thanos, as well as the rather bizarre Collector, played by Benicio Del Toro. New footage of the film has been released ahead of the movie's official trailer, which is expected soon.
Director James Gunn recently told Crave Online that Thanos will be a major part of Guardians of the Galaxy:
"Thanos is a character in our movie. He's the main sort of antagonist...in my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film."
Warning Spoilers For Thor 2: The Dark World Below.
Anyone who has seen Thor: The Dark World, has managed to catch a sneak peek at the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the very strange, mid-credits scene, we meet the Collector, played by Benicio Del Toro. GOTG director James Gunn recently spoke with Crave Online, where he explained Thor's odd coda.
"I got a script [the morning of shooting], and we did it in two hours at the end of a second unit day. It fits into our overall story of what's going on. I had talked to Kevin [Feige] about it and we decided the basics of what was going on. It was really late that we decided to put it on the movie. I mean really late. It wasn't that long ago we shot it."
Del Toro's performance definitely stood out, especially in Thor: The Dark World. In a separate interview with MTV News, Gunn spoke about the flamboyant character:
“He’s out there man. He’s the best. He’s so out there. We just kept watching him on set and being like ‘Oh my God.’ He’s probably the character that was the most different from what I imagined. Although I did sort of say he’s like an outer-space Liberace. That’s what it says in the script, which he’s kind of doing. He really came in prepared and doing something utterly unique and he’s mesmerizing the whole time he’s in the movie.”
