Death Threats to Legendary Music Mogul Clive Davis Spark Police Manhunt

No one really knows what sparks these things in the minds of unstable people but these stories seem destined to pop up repeatedly in entertainment news. The subject is almost always someone unlikely. Police have revealed that they are urgently searching for a man who has communicated gruesome death threats to legendary music mogul Clive Davis at Sony.

The man's motivations for wanting to hurt Davis, 83, are not entirely clear that's why police want to interview the suspect, a man named Jeffrey Choi, and figure out what his mental state is. It turns out this has been going on since 2011, when the subject made contact with Sony and accused them of making songs about him without his consent.

Recently, the threats have begun to include physical violence. This from TMZ, "Law enforcement sources tell us Jeffrey Choi left Davis a message in November saying, '...you're a piece of s***... I will f***ing kill you, 'so the police reached out and contacted Jeffrey Choi who reportedly wouldn't come to a meeting unless Clive Davis was present."

According to RollingStone, Clive Davis has been the head at Columbia, Arista and is now the chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment. The legendary record executive has had a hand in so many careers in music in the last few decades it's like an encyclopedia of music to list even a few of his most famous acts. After a trip to the Monterrey Pop Festival in the Summer of love he signed Janis Joplin and her band Big Brother. Under Davis's banner in the 1970's Bruce Springsteen, Santana, Billy Joel, Chicago and Aerosmith were all added to Columbia's roster. When Davis went to the Arista label his most well known signing and probably the artist he will always be most identified was Whitney Huston.

Clive Davis is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a non-perfomer. He also has won several Grammies. Clive Davis remains very active in music.
