Gwyneth Paltrow's war with Vanity Fair is still going strong, despite the magazine’s decision to push back an article that allegedly exposes the actress' torrid affair. Paltrow called for a boycott of the publication over a planned article that alleges she cheated on her husband, Chris Martin, with billionaire Jeff Soffer. Now the feud has spilled over to George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
Many people believed that Vanity Fair decided to drop its expose, after the story didn't break in the latest issue. However, an insider recently told Radar Online that the magazine is still planning to run the article, saying:
“It’s still going to run and it could possibly break online in the next two-three weeks. Too many resources have been plowed into it and too many bridges have been burned for it to be killed.”
Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair, spoke with The Times of London about the issue, saying:
“We started a story on her. We have a very good writer and it’ll run. Well, she sort of forced my hand...Some famous people believe that they live in a cone of celebrity that protects them. But it doesn’t really exist anymore in LA unless they stay in. I mean, you can be a well-known movie star and go decades without getting an embarrassing picture in a magazine just by leading a quiet, normal life...We wouldn’t be doing our job is there wasn’t a little bit of tension between Vanity Fair and its subjects, In any given week, I can expect to hear from a disgruntled subject in Hollywood, Washington or on Wall Street. That’s the nature of the beast.”
The Radar Online source later added that Paltrow wants to ruin the publication before they print the story, adding:
“She wants the magazine’s reputation destroyed before they can even publish anything on her.”
Over the summer, Paltrow sent out an email that called for a celebrity boycott of Vanity Fair, reading:
“If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again.”
It has been reported that Paltrow was able to convince her friend, George Clooney, to back out of an upcoming issue of the magazine. However, Paltrow's boycott has reportedly caused a rift between her and Julia Roberts, the insider adds:
“[Julia] is ignoring Gwyneth, has no problem with Graydon and is happily still committed to appear on the cover of that issue.”
