Glee's Rachel Berry, portrayed by Lea Michele, is rumored to get her own spin-off series, after the show's upcoming final season. The star also appears to be struggling with weight loss issues, following the death of boyfriend Cory Monteith.
Radar Online recently reported that a Glee spin-off featuring Lea Michele's character, Rachel Berry, is in the works. In the report, they quoted an unnamed insider, who claims:
“This will be announced soon. They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself--in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”
However, a rep from Fox has since denied the rumors telling, the LA Times:
"There is no truth behind those reports."
Last month, Glee creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that he had big plans for Rachel and Finn, saying:
"The whole [last] year of the show--which will be next year--was really designed around Rachel-Cory/Finn story. I always knew that. I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was--he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do."
Lea Michele seems to be losing weight since Cory Monteith's death. OK! Recently spoke with an Anonymous source who claims:
"She's wasting away to nothing, the second week after Cory died she lost eight pounds in seven days.”
A second insider echoes the comments, claiming:
“Lea just has no appetite. She doesn’t really make eating her top priority because she is still grieving. She knows she’s lost weight, but doesn’t feel like she’s scary skinny. She isn’t going to listen to criticism anyway because she’s either ‘too fat’ in this industry by being five pounds overweight or ‘too skinny,’ so she just dismisses it all.”
