Country music is not just for cowboys anymore. The genre is being lead by some seriously strong female artists. Between mainstays like Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood and fast-rising newcomers like Kacey Musgraves and Cassadee Pope, the girls of country music are proving they can sing circles around the guys. Now CMT is expanding its female-focused franchise, titled The Next Women Of Country, and they are adding "The Heart of Dixie" singer Danielle Bradbery to their ranks. The Voice winner will even be spotlighted on the network's LISTEN UP series, alongside fellow newcomer Brandy Clark .
Women are becoming a force to reckon with in the world of country music. Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves recently beat out every male artist, when they tied for most CMA nominations with six each. CMT is now expanding its Next Women of Country series, to focus on the genre's increasingly growing number of female artists. CMT's Senior Vice President of Music Strategy, Leslie Fram, released a statement to the press:
"Many of country music's most memorable voices belong to its strong women, and I'm honored to stand behind the rising stars like the talented ladies present today. Signed and unsigned, these women are making their careers happen on their own terms, and CMT is proud to introduce them to a new generation of fans through our growing Next Women franchise."
One of the artists that CMT is spotlighting is Danielle Bradbery. Bradbery rose to fame as the Season 4 winner of The Voice. The 17-year-old singing sensation announced the news that she will be releasing her first record, via facebook:
“It feels like I just walked off The Voice stage so it's crazy to think I'm about to release my first album. Nashville has been so welcoming to me throughout this entire process and I couldn't be more proud of the music we’ve created. I am so excited to get all the songs into the hands of the fans who gave me this amazing opportunity in the first place!"
Bradbery's self-titled debut album is due out on November 25, 2013.
