Tom Hanks Has Insurance Agent Arrested After Diabetes Announcement and Death Rumors

Tom Hanks' former insurance broker was recently arrested for fraud. This latest announcement comes after Tom revealed that he suffered from diabetes. While death rumors instantly began to fly, the actor seems in good health and spirit.

Jerry Goldman, Tom Hank’s old insurance broker, just landed a two-year jail sentence. According to reports, the 60-year-old broker swindled nearly a million dollars from Tom and his wife. The Huffington Post outlined the criminal’s actions:

“He was also ordered to pay about $840,000 in restitution. Prosecutors claimed that between 1998 and 2011, Goldman inflated premiums by as much as 600 percent and created phony invoices to hide the scam. The original indictment claimed that Goldman also bilked others including Andy Summers, the former guitarist for The Police.”

This latest press comes after the award-winning actor made headlines when he told David Letterman that he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. But in the wake of his announcement, numerous media outlets have began speculating as to the cause of the disease--with many blaming his profession.

After all, Tom is known to shed/gain major pounds, in order to play any particular role. His performance in Castaway, for example, saw the actor lose over 50 lbs. But Hanks not buying it, as he told the press after the show:

"I'm sure there's going to be some media scandal now, saying I got it because I gained and lost weight for movie parts or something--but I doubt that."

Of course, Tom doesn’t seem that convinced, as he informed the media:

“Gaining and losing of weight may have had something to do with this because you eat so much bad food and you don’t get any exercise when you’re heavy...I think I was genetically inclined to get it and I think it actually and goes back to a lifestyle I’ve been leading ever since I was seven years old.”
