If you are involved in theater in any way than you have likely seen the name Samuel French on a script or two. Well now Samuel French is giving you the opportunity to have on of your very own plays published as part of their 41st Annual Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival. That is the good news. The bad news that the contest started in December. However, there are still a few days left in to submit your play before the February 12 deadline. Check out the report below for more information on the Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival and how to enter.
Samuel French defines the OOB Festival via an email, stating:
“The OOB Festival is one of Samuel French’s primary initiatives to work with the next wave of emerging playwrights. During the first week in August, we present 30 short plays (running 10 – 30 minutes in length), selected through the submissions process. 6 – 8 plays are performed nightly and evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges representing all aspects of the theatre industry. Throughout the week, the 30 plays are narrowed down to 10 finalists, six of which are selected by the Samuel French staff to be licensed for future productions and published in an anthology of short plays that will become the 41st edition of our Off Off Broadway Festival Plays series.”
The deadline for submissions is set for February 12 at 11:59 p.m. eastern time. Be sure to visit oob.samuelfrench.com for more information on how to submit your play.
