Glee is a show that is torn between two cities. The series got its start at McKinley High School, located in Lima, Ohio. However, some of the show's characters, including Lea Michele, have graduated and moved on to chase their Broadway dreams in the Big Apple. Now the series is reportedly looking to move all production to New York. Other rumors are that the show plans to move the openly-gay character Kurt, played by Chris Colfer, to Russia to address the country's controversial anti-homosexuality law.
Rumors are spreading that Glee is moving away from its Lima, Ohio roots and focusing only on its New York City stories. Where it is easy to see how they might move graduating teens to the Big Apple, it is unclear how the show might move the McKinley High School staff, including Jane Lynch.
One unnamed insider recently told E! News that the show may also address Russia's controversial anti-gay law by moving the openly gay character Kurt to the Mother Land, saying:
“We are mulling around the idea of moving Kurt (Chris Colfer) to Russia.”
Last month TVline reported from the Paley Center event honoring FX, where Glee and American Horror Story creator, Ryan Murphy, told reporters that the show would be ending next year, saying:
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was--he was in it. I knew what the last line was--she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now. I have a good idea. I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”
