Who would have thought that a Broadway disaster could be a good thing? Seth Rudetsky for one.The Siriusxm On Broadway host is bringing his new musical, Disaster! to life this spring. Written by Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, the upcoming show features an all star cast, including Faith Prince, Roger Bart and Adam Pascal.
Seth Rudetsky spoke to Playbill late last year about the orgins of Disaster! on Broadway:
"Ever since I read Charles Busch's book 'Whores of Lost Atlantis,' I've always wanted to write a show and perform in it, surrounded by my friends. Well, it's happened!! I co-wrote Disaster! with my friend Jack, whom I've known since 1991, and everyone in the show is a friend from forever ago! I've known Faith since the early 90's (we have the same therapist!). And Kerry and I have known each other since we were in a kids nightclub in the 80's. Yes, she's younger than me. I could go through the whole cast but the point is this is a dream come true!"
Press material for Disaster! describe the show, stating (via Playbill):
"Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the theatre comes Broadway’s new musical comedy Disaster! Earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos and rampant wildlife can’t stop an outrageous cast of characters from dancing, gambling and singing the night away aboard New York’s first floating casino and discothèque."
Previews for Disaster! begin on Feb 09 and officially opens on March 8 at The Nederlander Theatre, 208 West 41st Street New York, NY, 10036
