Jennifer Lopez Talks ‘American Idol’ Final Season

There is clearly a case to be made that if not for American Idol's success we would have never gotten shows like The Voice, America's Got Talent or even Dancing with the Stars, and Jennifer Lopez sees its coming to an end as the end of an era -- not only for reality TV but for herself as well. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Shades of Blue actress sights her time as a judge on the series as helping her get over her divorce from Marc Anthony. Word has it that the split left J Lo feeling insecure, until her time in the reality TV limelight forced her to rebuild her confidence or fall flat on her face.

While being a judge an American Idol might have been just another gig for Nicki Minaj or Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez considers her time on the show as instrumental is helping her become the woman that she is today.

During an interview in the latest February 1, issue of OK! Magazine, J Lo explains that she will miss the series and all the it's meant to her when it all finally comes to an end later this year:

"I'm very melancholy about it. I grew so much personally being part of it, because it's the kind of show where you can't hide your feelings.

"I was forced to stop worrying about how I would be perceived...Being on American Idol has made me much more confident about myself.

"Everything feels better when you accept yourself for who you are."

As sad as J Lo will be to see the show go, she can't help but be happy to be acting again on NBC's Shades of Blue (via Entertainment Weekly):

"It's two different sides of me. And I enjoy both very much.

"I feel like a different person when I'm playing Harlee and acting and in New York and living that life.

"Getting back to acting like that, which I haven't done in a while, has been challenging but also so fulfilling for me...When I started, that's all I used to do, so now to get back to that is a lot of fun for me."
