New 'Transformers 4: Age of Extinction' Set Video Reveals Major Plot Spoilers: Does Optimus Prime Die? Is Bumblebee Next in Line?

A new video from the set of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction has been leaked. The video possibly reveals a major plot spoiler. The clip seemingly teases the impending death of Optimus Prime. Could we see Bumblebee step up as the new Autobot leader?

The leaked video shows Mark Wahlberg looking up at an eye-line marker that represents Optimus Prime. A voice-over track fills in Prime's lines, which were translated from the somewhat-audible clip by Hollywood Hills. In the scene, Prime bids Earth farewell, telling Wahlberg and the remaining Autobots:

"There remains a price on my head, and I risk endangering you if I stay. Cade when you find the remaining stones, mark one as my soul. Defend this family Autobots, as they have you, goodbye, don't forget me."

If the transcript is correct, then this could very well mean the end of Optimus Prime in the film series. Prime famously died in the original animated feature film, sparking a new age of Autobots. Prime also had a brief brush with afterlife in the second live action film, before being resurrected. If Prime does infact die in the new film, this would mean that mantle of the Autobot leadership could be passed on to a new bot. Could Bumblebee become the next bot to receive the Prime moniker?

It was previously reported that the film is intended to be a soft reboot of the franchise. Mark Wahlberg spoke with Jay Leno earlier in the year, where he talked about the film's new direction:

“We’re doing a complete reboot of the Transformers. I did a movie with Michael Bay called Pain and Gain, which comes out in April. And we had an amazing time together and really hit it off, and he said ‘Hey, you want to do this other little movie I’m doing?’ Because that was a little movie, and I said ‘Yeah, I like doing little movies.' And he said Transformers. Whoa! You know what, we had such a great experience, I’m in.”
