The Internet went ape when it was announced that Ben Affleck was cast as the new Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel 2. Now that filming for Batman Vs Superman has officially began, Batflack is opening up about his hesitance to take on the role of the Dark Knight.
In a recent interview with 411 Mania, Ben Affleck opened up about his new role as the Dark Knight in Batman Vs Superman, saying:
"Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn't fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it's the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack's vision."
Earlier in the year, Warner Brother CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the press about Snyder's vision for Batman, saying:
“[He will be] tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile. We think it’s going to be huge."
Affleck also commented on Tsujihara's description saying:
"Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don't want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience."
Affleck previously spoke with Jimmy Fallon about how the studio cautioned him about what to expect before signing on for the role:
"The people from the studio were like 'We're thrilled... and listen we want to talk to you because people go through this process and it can be a little trying'. They said, 'We want to show you some of the reactions that past cast members have got on the Internet'."
