Misty Copeland is coming to Columbia SC and teaming up with SC native Brooklyn Mack for the benefit of both Columbia Classical Ballet and Columbia City Ballet. A fundraising luncheon for both companies will be held this March.
Columbia Classical Ballet chairman Lee Lumpkin spoke about the upcoming joint fundraiser event with Misty Copeland and Brooklyn Mack, telling the South Carolina State Newspaper:
“This is a monumental moment for our ballet companies. We want to better educate our community about why ballet is so important, and Misty Copeland and Brooklyn Mack are coming here to help convey that message.”
Columbia City Ballet executive and artistic director William Starrett also spoke about the joint benefit, adding:
“We felt we would have a bigger impact working together, and only together could we bring Misty and Brooklyn here for one event, to benefit us all.”
The benefit for both Columbia City Ballet and the Columbia Classical Ballet will be held on March 15. Proceeds will be split between both companies.
