'Who's Your Daddy' PC Video Game Review: Best Parenting Simulator Ever on Steam

There are a lot of video game gems out there on Steam just waiting to be discovered, and one of the best for PC is Who's Your Daddy, a game where two players go head to head in an epic battle of the ages. This review will show you why this game is the best parenting simulator ever.

The basic premise is this according to Kotaku, "The baby has but one goal: to kill itself, using whatever means possible. The parent, meanwhile, has to childproof an entire home in real time."

The Baby has a wide arsenal of lethal weaponry at its disposal, ranging from bleach, soap and Windex to forks, knives, and bathtubs. Hammers for glass (yes, the Baby eats the broken glass) and ovens are also favorite tools for self-destruction.

The Dad has his hands quite full, trying to remove all the various paraphernalia the Baby tries to kill itself with. Whether it's moving bleach to the top shelf, grabbing the knife lying on the floor in the middle of the living room, or grabbing the foam ball launcher from the Baby so it can't eat the balls, the Dad has little chance at keeping the little monster from harm.

Fortunately, there's backup plans. The Dad has access to very powerful bonuses on completion of chores (picking up toys, changing a smoke detector battery) that make it a little easier to keep track of the Baby. Additionally, if the Baby does manage to eat or drink something toxic, pills and fruit will stop the Baby's health from dropping and heal it respectively. The Dad can also find locks and outlet covers in drawers around the house, thus preventing the Baby from getting into certain places. On the other hand, the Baby can find golden keys that will unlock doors.

It's a never ending cycle of hunt and be hunted. The Baby must die, but the Dad must save it until Mom comes home.

The gameplay is remarkably fun for such a simple premise. While a challenge to win as the Dad, it's not impossible, and the Baby can find death hard to come by late in the game if the Dad is successful at keeping such tools away from the child.

The downside to the game is it's in early alpha. The graphics are pretty bad, and there have been frame-rate issues as well as some graphical glitches. But for $5, it's not a bad deal for such a strange little game. Updates are scheduled for Fridays, and if the developer continues work on the game, it looks like it will shape up to be a polished diamond. Tech Times claims "For now, most of the action in Who's Your Daddy play out in the kitchen, living room and bathroom. Once the final game is out, however, it will feature a fully furnished two-story home for the father and the baby to duke it out."
