The new musical "Sleepless in Seattle," based on the 1993 movie of the same title, now has its new songwriters, stepping forward to its world premiere next year.
The producers announced on the show's website that composer Ben Toth and lyricist Sam Forman have signed on to work on the music for the new Broadway musical.
Toth has composed for musical "Twelfth Night" and co-written songs for Broadway musicals "Spring Awakening" and "Legally Blonde". Writer and lyricist Forman, current writing staff of television program "House of Cards" is a co-book author for the musical "I Sing!".
Adapted from the American romantic comedy film that starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Sleepless in Seattle follows the story of Sam, a widower in Seattle whose young son calls a talk radio show to find a new wife for him. Among countless women from all over the country who were moved by his story was Annie, a newspaper reporter who suggests they meet at the top of the Empire State Building.
With the creative team with Lonny Price as a director, David Shor as a producer, Eric Stern as a musical director, and the two songwriters who recently joined, the show is set to have its world premiere in June 2013 at The Pasadena Playhouse, historic performing arts venue in Pasadena, California.
