The New York Philharmonic will be performing and conversing with listeners Thursday, Jan. 21 at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center in an event hosted by WQXR's Jeff Spurgeon. An absolutely free show, the Insights performance will begin at 7:30 pm.
As part of their winter events calendar, the New York Phil will give listeners and attendees the chance to learn first hand the personalities that comprise the ensemble.
Per the Lincoln Center website, they invite everyone to "experience the passion of the New York Philharmonic through an intimate chamber performance [and] meet some of the personalities that make up the ensemble through a guided conversation hosted by WQXR's Jeff Spurgeon."
Seating comes on a first-come-first-served basis but those who are subscribers, Friends at the Fellow level and above and patrons may secure a spot for admission by contacting AdultEd@nyphil.org.
Also this Saturday, Jan. 23, youthful ears are asked to join the NY Phil and their next installation of the Young People's Concerts. Under the Once Upon a Time umbrella comes "Myths and Legends," in which the orchestra brings to life the stories, legends, tales of heroes and villains that were created by great composers in their work.
The YPC takes a different approach each year to "explore fundamental musical concepts and the cultural history of classical music."
Over the four-concert series, youngsters will experience an entire spectrum of repertory spanning old and new works. Also, kids will be able to get a unique insight as to the inner workings of a major orchestra and hopefully inspire new classical hopefuls.
Don't miss out by purchasing your tickets here. The Young People's Concert will be held at David Geffen Hall at 2 pm. It will be a one-hour show.
Other events can be found on the New York Philharmonic website.
