Garth Brooks is not just one of the biggest names in country, he's one of the biggest names in music. By some accounts, Brooks has outsold the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Where Brooks humbly insist that these counts aren't true, landing the number three spot is still a spectacular accomplishment. Now the man who helped bring country music to the main stream is rumored to be coming out of retirement. The singer/songwriter is reintroducing himself to the world with a live broadcast of his final Las Vegas show dates, that will air live on CBS.
The show-stopping performance is bound to be just the beginning. Brooks entered a state of semi-retirement in 2001, in order to focus on his family. Now that his youngest daughter is 17-years-old and about to graduate from high school, the country legend is gearing up to ride again.
Always the show boat, last week Brooks emailed fans with a mysterious message that read:
“The sevens have aligned. It has begun…Thank you for believing… love, g.”
His website previously featured only the roar of lighting and the words, “It has begun…”
The site now links fans to a press release promoting his upcoming final show at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. The show will also be broadcast live on CBS, on Friday, November 29, from 9:00 -11:00 p.m. The official release reads in part:
"'GARTH BROOKS, LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS' will feature Brooks in a very intimate setting, playing his guitar as he takes the audience through the musical journey that led him to become the number one selling solo artist in U.S. history. He will share his experiences listening to different musicians throughout his life, starting with the music of Merle Haggard and George Jones. Then, other musicians who influenced him like Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Otis Redding, Bob Seger, George Strait and many, many, more. Throughout the show, Garth will perform some of their classic songs and show you how they influenced his greatest hits."
The singer himself also spoke about his musical selection, saying:
"'Blame it all on my roots,'This is the soundtrack of my life. Growing up the last of six kids, music was the life blood of our family and as you can imagine, mom, dad, and each kid had his or her own favorite stuff and it all funneled down to me."
