Legendary singer/songwriter Dolly Parton was involved in a car accident last Monday. The minor accident briefly landed the 67-year-old country music icon in the hospital. Luckily, Parton was not injured in the wreck. Now, a little over a week later, Parton is opening up about the incident. The songstress is also planning a new tour in support of her upcoming album, Blue Smoke.
Shortly after her car crash last week, Dolly Parton tweeted to her fans, saying:
"I was in a fender bender this morning here in Nashville, but I am all good...Just a little tired and sore. Resting at home now!"
Parton elaborated further on the accident, during an interview with Country Weekly:
“I’m fine. As you can see!...Judy, my best friend, and I were heading to the studio to finish up Blue Smoke, my record, and this lady just pulled out in front of us and we hit her. It wasn’t that hard. Thank goodness we weren’t going that fast.”
Parton who is known for her large breasts, even took the time to joke about herself, saying:
“Nobody’s airbags inflated or deflated--mine or Nissan’s!”
Still, it was a good thing that Parton was wearing her seat belt, she added:
“We were fine. Just a little sore and bruised where the seatbelt went across. I’ve never been in anything like this. All of a sudden, you just feel the pressure in your chest. But we’re good, we’re fine, thanks for the concern. As far as I know, if I die, it’ll be from something besides that!”
Parton isn't about to let a little fender bender keep her off the road. Just one day after her accident, Dolly announced new tour dates to support her upcoming record, Blue Smoke. Parton made a statement to the press about her new international tour, including stops in her home away from Dollywood, Australia:
“Australia, here I come again. We have a lot of new and exciting things for the show and can’t wait to share it with you. I love my fans in that part of the world. You’ve been so very good to me for so many years and I know that we’re gonna have a wonderful time. It’s a long way from home in your part of the world, but I always feel like I’m right at home. So Australia, I’m coming home. Wait up!”
