Kelly Rowland recently sat down and talked with a major U.S. tabloid. While she did recount some pretty wild moments from X Factor, the former Destiny’s child member didn’t comment on her estranged father, who recently (and very publicly) reached out to his daughter.
In a recent edition of OK! Magazine, the tabloid caught up with X Factor judge Kelly Rowland. The 32-year-old singer didn’t lock up when she was asked about the wildest moment from her time at the reality competition show, telling the publication:
“The wildest moment from behind the scenes has probably been when me and Demi tricked Simon into eating bull’s testicles. In Denver, it’s a delicacy called Rocky Mountain oysters. We mixed them up on a plate with chicken nuggets. He had one, spit it out, and we looked at him like, ‘Ha, ha, the joke’s on you!’ He wanted to kill us.”
Of course, this latest revelation pales in comparison with the waves Kelly’s own father made, when he sat down with Star. Christopher Lovett, Kelly Rowland’s biological father, claimed that he wanted to see his daughter again and is a changed man.
Christopher recently sat down with the magazine, where he claimed to have practiced singing with his daughter, at an early age:
“Our favorite songs to sing were by Stevie Wonder. We would play the songs on a tape recorder. I’d put one headphone on my ear and the other on hers, and we would sing and sing, so happy to be together.”
In previous interviews, Kelly accused her father of overdrinking and possessing an aggressive nature towards her mother. For his part, Christopher admits to drinking far too much:
“I can’t tell you how much I was drinking, but it was too much. No parent should ever scream or shout around their child, but I couldn’t control it. Kelly was living in the middle of a nightmare that no little girl should experience. I hoped I could make it up to her, but I’m still waiting for that day.”
Despite his past actions, Christopher claims that he has evolved. For quite some time now, he says that he has reached out to his daughter:
“Whenever [Destiny’s Child] was on the cover of a magazine, I would call and beg them to tell her I was looking for her. I sat there watching with tears of joy and utter despair. So many precious years have passed and I’m getting old. I just pray she comes back into my life before it’s too late.”
