Dina Lohan's lawyer is claiming that the paparazzi are to blame for her recent drunk driving arrest. It has been alleged that stress from the media is what caused the matriarch's double-the-legal-limit drunken joyride.
We all deal with stress in our lives. It's no secret that celebrities do as well. Some might even argue that for every advantage a celeb might have to help make their lives easier, they also have equal amounts of added pressure. With the paparazzi always breathing down their necks, it is understable that some celebs need to unwind every now and again. What is never understandable, however, is getting hammered over the legal limit and speeding down the highway, endangering the safety and lives of others around you.
In a recent press statement, the star's defense claims that stress from all of her media attention lead her to get behind the wheel while drunk:
"There is no indication that Dina suffers from alcohol abuse or dependency. Her record is remarkably unblemished. Therefore, treatment is not being recommended. It is [my] professional opinion that the circumstances leading to Dina's arrest were largely impacted from the ongoing daily stresses caused by the paparazzi, the media attention and distorted tabloid character profiles. After meeting Dina and her family and witnessing the care, compassion and concern shared between family members, it is my hope that the courts will take the circumstances and challenges of Dina's lifestyle under consideration in prosecuting this case."
After, Lohan's first attorney, Mark Heller, told the press:
"Dina Logan is painfully mindful of the gravity of her arrest for driving while intoxicated. I am confident that the district attorney's office and the judicial system will temper justice with mercy."
