There is another major update in the cast of 50 Shades of Grey. According to reports, the movie’s 2014 release date may be pushed back. This latest announcement comes after it was announced that Jamie Dornan would be playing Christian Grey in the upcoming film.
The movie was initially scheduled to begin filming in just a few days, but Charlie Hunnam’s abrupt exit from the film has caused a delay. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production was pushed back by at least a month:
“The production, which was scheduled to begin shooting in early November, will now begin filming on Dec. 2, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The delay raises the question of whether or not the film can be ready in less than eight months to meet its current release date of Aug. 1, 2014. If not, the film would likely be jettisoned out of the summer frame.”
It’s been a rough year for the film, especially after Charlie dropped out of the highly-anticipated film. But at least a majority of the cast is in place. This includes the latest member to join the film, Luke Grimes.
You may recognize Luke from this season’s True Blood. The hunky actor got a shout out from the book’s author, EL James, on Twitter, where she announced that he would be playing the brother of Christian Grey:
“Get ready to be swept off your feet. Welcome Luke Grimes to #TeamFifty as Elliot Grey!”
EL James also made the last big announcement when it came to the cast, when she revealed that Jamie Dornan will be portraying Christian Grey. Prior to that, only a select few knew who would be replacing Charlie Hunnam.
According to US Weekly, Dakota Johnson made that short list. The source revealed that the young actress took part in the audition process:
"Dakota was there to act against them, they did some of the heavier scenes from the script and read their chemistry. Dakota's job is solid, they know that she can handle this role and they like her for it, when you meet her and talk to her you know that she's got the character in her."
Of course, these rumors come after speculation that Johnson may walk away from the film as well, as a source told E! News:
“Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press. When she first got the role, it was way too much for her. It’s been tough.”
