Comic book movies are hot properties right now, and there has recently been a lot of buzz about arguably one of the hottest heroes getting her own feature film. Fans everywhere are hoping to catch a glipse of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman Vs Superman movie. DC's animated division is also hoping to revive the charter in another Justice League movie.
Variety recently spoke with Warner Bros. president of creative development and worldwide production (get a load of that business card), Greg Silverman, about the possibility of a Wonder Woman feature film:
“We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them. Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it’s a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero.”
When he was later asked if Wonder Woman would have her own stand alone feature or be packed in with Batman, Superman and the rest of the league. Silverman responded by dancing around the question:
“We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that’s respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can. So everything that has been speculated are things that we’ve thought about.”
However, an animated film featuring the Amazonian Princess might be in the works. James Tucker, a supervising producer for DC's animation division recently spoke with Hollywood Reporter, where he talked about the character's future in the DCAU (DC Animated Universe):
"We will probably do a Wonder Woman-centered Justice League movie. We will use the Justice League as an umbrella to focus on characters who might not be able to support DVDs of their own. That is not my judgement, that is based on sales.
Tucker later added:
"We will handle Wonder Woman in our own way, regardless of whether they will do a live action movie or not. I like her as a character and want to feature her as much as we can. But it will probably be in the context of a Justice League movie.
