Princess Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, recently celebrated Prince George Alexander Louis’ christening. The baptism comes just days after the royal family moved into their new pad. We’ve got the latest update, including who was in attendance and what lucky family members and friends were named as George’s godparents.
On Wednesday, Prince George made his first public appearance since his birth. The young prince (and future king) looked adorable in his royal christening gown.
The guest list for the ceremony was noticeably short, including only the closest of friends and family. There were some notable guests in attendance, like Prince Charles, Prince Harry, the Middletons and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Kate also announced the godparents of their small child. CNN offered the following recap:
“Among them is Prince William's cousin Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne, and close friends of the couple...Oliver Baker, who got to know William and Catherine at St. Andrew's University, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who went to school with Catherine, and William van Cutsem, a childhood friend of William. The other godparents are Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a former private secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry; Julia Samuel, who was a good friend of William's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales; and Earl Grosvenor, son of the Duke of Westminster.”
Their big day followed shortly after Kate and William moved, for the third time since giving birth. The royal family returned to Kensington Palace, calling Apartment 1A home. They aren’t the first royals to call it home, either, as International Business Times reports:
“Apartment 1a, where William, Kate and George begin their family life had remained the official residence of Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister, for 42 years. She moved into the apartment after marrying photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones, later Lord Snowdon, in May 1960, and lived there until her death in 2002.”
