Lead singer of classic rock outfit Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, was arrested Monday on charges of assault and harassment. Rumors claim that Fagen's wife Libby Titus, in which she says the musician pushed onto the bottom of a marble window, filed the case.
The full report says that Fagen, allegedly, grabbed the complainant by the arms and pushed her onto the hard surface, causing swelling and bruising. It remains undetermined if the complainant received medical care for her injuries.
Mr. Fagen has been formally charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment. His lawyer and publicist have not yet filed any comments.
As of late, the musician was released from jail without bail on Tuesday after his arraignment. Naturally, he was ordered to remain at a distance from Titus until matters have been resolved.
If you aren't in the know, Fagen is a founding member of the iconic rock band Steely Dan, which formed in 1972 with guitarist Walter Becker. The group has sold more than 40 million albums and has coined such hits as "Reelin' in the Years," "Rikki Don't Lose that Number" and "Deacon Blues."
In 2001 Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has become a staple in the echelon of chart-topping classic rock artists.
Last October, Fagen and Becker performed an eight-night residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York with new additions to the Steely Dan lineup.
His soon-to-be ex-wife is a producer, actor and songwriter. She put out two albums in the late '70s with help from producers Phil Ramone, Paul Simon, Carly Simon and Robbie Robertson of the now-defunct The Band.
A most unfortunate circumstance, indeed, take a listen to Libby Titus below while the case plays out in court.
