Acclaimed actor Tom Hanks wants to be a Batman villain or the Flash...or really anyone who can throw a shield. The Toy Story and Captain Phillips star recently expressed interest in playing a super hero in a comic book movie.
Tom Hanks has done it all, from screw ball comedys to award-winning dramas. Still, the world of comic book movies is uncharted territory. In a recent interview with Showbiz 411, Hanks talked about the possibility of him starring in a super hero film:
"They don’t ask me and I keep trying...Come on, I can do it. Let me play a bad guy, let me play the bad guy against Batman. I’ll do anything, call me. They’ve never asked. What do I have to do? God, I want to throw a shield at somebody. I want that. And I don’t want to play the guy in the suit who tells the superheroes what’s going on, I don’t want to be that guy. ‘Well, you know Batman...Captain America, Iron Man, here’s what we’ve discovered,' I don’t want to be that guy. I want to get in there, I want to play The Flash or something like that. They’ll never give me a chance."
Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston recently shot down rumors that he would be playing Lex Luther in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel and five additional films, telling Boston.Com:
“Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.”
He did, however, indulge the reporter, adding how he might approach the former Luther, Gene Hackman, if he did get the part:
“I can just see how that phone call would go,‘Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.’ ‘Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?’ ”
