Ant-Man casting rumors are rolling out left and right. Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are considered the front runners for the new film, however, JGL has reportedly denied the rumors. Now Marvel has announced that a casting announcement is due before the end of the year.
In a recent interview with IGN, Marvel Studio's president of production, Kevin Feige, recently spoke about the production of the film and how director/writer Edgar Wright is coming along with the script, saying that he is:
"tweaking the drafts [of the script] with Joe Cornish... and we're crewing up and prepping. There should be cast announcements, probably before the end of the year."
Earlier in the month, it was reported that actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and funny man Paul Rudd were the front runners for the role. However, JGL has reportedly called the rumors, "nothing but lies.” telling a French reporter for Allocine:
"There are always rumors. I talk a lot about my future projects, so if you haven’t heard me talk about it, means it’s nothing but a rumor. People like to write about [rumors]."
It should be noted that the above quote was translated from French to English via The Playlist.
Levitt also had to shoot down rumors that he would somehow be involved in the upcoming Batman vs Superman film, telling Jay Leno:
"I don't know. I don't think so. I don't have anything to do with that movie. I was in a movie that was the end of a trilogy that I was super proud and fortunate to be in."
Edgar Wright's close friend and frequent collaborator Simon Pegg was also once plagued with casting rumors, after he posted a picture of himself pointing at an Ant-Man painting. Pegg told The Guardian about the whole mess, saying:
"I was at Marvel doing a podcast and I had my picture taken with the Hulk and Thor. And then I was having my picture taken by the big mural and I was like, 'There's Ant-Man!' because Edgar's doing Ant-Man. So, I pointed at it and the next thing I know, it's like 'He's Ant-Man!' I mean, grow up!"
Ant-Man is currently scheduled for release on July 31, 2015.
