Conservative Ben Shapiro has started a new movement called Truth Revolt, which is calling for a boycott of Ritz Crackers. The organization has targeted the snack food because they sponsor MSNBC's Politics Nation, hosted by Reverend Al Sharpton. The civil rights activist is coming under fire for comments he made during a 1994 speech, where he called while people "crackers." Now George Zimmerman's brother Robert Zimmerman Jr, has came out against the Rev.
The official Truth Revolt website is calling for a boycott of Ritz Crackers for there support of Rev. Al Sharpton, saying:
"Al Sharpton is one of the greatest race hoaxers and divisive demagogues of the last half-century. Sharpton is the man whose anti-Semitic language helped stoke the flames of the 1991 Crown Heights riots that resulted in the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum; he is the man whose incitements against a white owned store in Harlem ended with one of his followers torching Freddie’s Fashion Mart, causing a fire that killed eight people; he is a liar who falsely accused a district attorney and five other innocent men of raping 15-year-old Tawana Brawley; he was the leader of the lynch mob that smeared the innocent Duke lacrosse players and the demagogue who helped turn Trayvon Martin into a martyr and George Zimmerman into the target of race-baiting vigilantes."
Ritz was singled out because the cracker company advertises during Sharpton's MSNBC show, Politics Nation. During a 1994 speach at Kean College, Sharpton used the word cracker as a racial slur, saying:
“Do some cracker come and tell you, ‘Well, my mother and father blood go back to the Mayflower,’ you better hold your pocket. That ain’t nothing to be proud of, that means their forefathers was crooks.”
The boycott organizers voiced there strong disapproval for the the civil rights leader, saying:
“Sharpton is a racial extortionist who has instigated racial animosities, violence and division in America for the last forty years. In better times, Sharpton would be stigmatized and condemned for the damage he has done. But today he is a primetime host on MSNBC—the charter cable news network for NBC News, and a favored outlet for the Obama administration’s spin doctors.”
Now George Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr, is adding his criticism of Sharpton to the movement, saying:
“There is perhaps no one more undeserving of the title ‘Reverend’ in the world than Al Sharpton. It is clear to me that inciting and promoting racial discord have proven far too profitable vehicles of wealth for Sharpton to abandon on his own but we can force the hand of his sponsors and send a message that he can't ignore by hurting him where he's bound to feel it--his wallet."
