The Marin Symphony Association has named Jeff vom Saal, 33, as its new executive director.
Saal, the executive director of the Quad City Symphony Symphpony Orchestra in Davenport, Iowa, will replace Noralee Monestere who resigned in April after 12 years in the post.
"We're all very excited about Jeff," said Kate Akos, who has served the Marin Symphony as interim director since Monestere's resignation.
"Jeff has a wonderful combination of passion for music and deep knowledge of repertoire and what orchestras can do for communities, especially families," Akos added.
Founded in 1951, the Marin Symphony Orchestra offered five pairs of concerts annually at the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium with classical music directed by Alasdair Neale.
Before Quad City Symphony Orchestra, vom Saal directed the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra in Fargo and the Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra in Framingham. After graduating from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, he started working in the field of music administration.
Vom Saal will move to Mill Valley with his wife and two children for the new post at the Marin Symphony Orchestra that will be officially handed over on August 11.
