Will Dwayne The Rock Johnson Actually Wrestle at 'Wrestlemania 32' This Year

Earlier this week, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed on Instagram, as well as on WWE's official website, that he would be taking part in WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in April. Johnson has appeared at every Mania since WrestleMania XVII in Atlanta, when he was the guest host of the event. He has wrestled at two of those five events, splitting two matches with John Cena at WrestleMania XVIII and 29. The past two years, he has shown up to only talk in-ring, first with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania XXX, then teamed up with Ronda Rousey to irk Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 31. At this point, fans aren't hyped about listening to Johnson talk however, and they only want to know if he will wrestle.

Johnson was injured at WrestleMania 29, and hasn't done anything more physical than beat up Rusev on Raw. There are plenty of options for The Rock to face going into the Mania season, but the WWE needs to set up a feud before the Royal Rumble.

Looking at the current roster, a few names stand out as potential suitors to go one on one with the great one this year. The company needs another big name to face off with The Rock, but can't have him face Cena again. It appears Brock Lesnar is the favorite to win the Royal Rumble, meaning he won't be facing The Rock. Two names to watch for the event are Triple H and The Undertaker.

Triple H is the obvious choice considering the fight between the two at last year's Mania. The company wants 32 to break records for viewership and attendance, and these two behemoths going at it would certainly bring in fans to the event. They've never faced off at the Showcase of the Immortals, and a match-up between them would steal the show. Both men do not wrestle more than maybe once a year, and could spend the next three months worrying about just this one match.

The other possible competitor was always linked to an eventual match with Sting, but with Sting probably still out, unless he is interested in the storyline and match-up, we might see Taker needing an a opponent. These two have never faced off at Mania, and it would bring in so many to see if The Rock could add a second loss to Undertaker's impressive Mania legacy.

If Johnson comes to WrestleMania to only talk and cut a promo, it is not newsworthy or important. If he actually faces off with a big-time opponent, it could be all the WWE needs to make WrestleMania 32 the biggest event in company history.
